US Airways passenger traffic up 5.1 percent for October

Passenger traffic at US Airways was up 5.1 percent in October, the Tempe-based airline said on Tuesday.

The increase came as the carrier added 8.5 percent more capacity to its mainline and regional networks. As a result, US Airways' consolidated load factor dropped 2.7 percentage points to 83.1 percent.

US Airways president Scott Kirby said the airline's unit revenues increased about one percent versus October 2012.
