Southwest says passenger traffic grew 9.8 percent in December

With a later Thanskgiving holiday weekend, Southwest Airlines said its passenger traffic in December grew 9.8 percent.

The Dallas-based carrier increased capacity 3.4 percent and had its load factor rise 4.8 percentage points to 82.8 percent.

Unit revenues are estimated to have grown in the 14 to 15 percent range, the company said.
