Southwest said passenger traffic rose 2.2 percent in January

Southwest Airlines said passenger traffic increased 2.2 percent in January even as the carrier cut capacity by 2.6 percent.

The Dallas-based carrier said its load factor rose 3.6 percent to 76.3 percent compared to January 2013.

Unit revenues are estimated to have increased five percent, Southwest said.
