American to hold first shareholder meeting on June 4

American Airlines will hold its first shareholder meeting since it emerged from bankruptcy protection on June 4 in New York, the company said on Friday.

The meeting will be held at the offices of Latham & Watkins at 9:00 a.m., according to a Securities and Exchange filing.

With a date set for the annual meeting, current chairman Tom Horton will step down from his position at American. Horton's employment agreement stated he would stay on as non-executive chairman after American emerged from bankruptcy for one year or until the first shareholder meeting.
