Southwest says passenger traffic grew 4.4 percent in April

Southwest Airlines said its passenger traffic rose 4.4 percent in April as the carrier cut capacity by 0.6 percent.

The Dallas-based carrier said its load factor increased by 3.9 percentage points to 81.7 percent when compared to April 2013.

Southwest estimates that its unit revenues grew in the seven to eight percent range for the month.
