American appoints LAX director Jeff Plant to take over DFW as Art Pappas retires

American Airlines announced on Friday that Jeff Plant, who currently oversees American's operations at Los Angeles Airport, will take on the same position at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.

Plant is replacing Art Pappas who announced last week that he will retire after 37 years at American. Pappas announced his retirement on the same day American launched its first flights to Shanghai and Hong Kong from DFW Airport.

"Jeff is the right person to take on the role of leading our Dallas/Fort Worth hub,” said Kerry Philipovitch, senior vice president of customer experience in a statement. "During his tenure at American, Jeff has excelled in every leadership position he has had, including directing passenger service at DFW...Jeff is ready to take on the challenge of keeping our Dallas/Fort Worth hub running smoothly."
