Southwest says service between Dallas Love and the Bay Area to start in January

Southwest Airlines announced Monday that it will launch flights between Dallas Love Field and San Francisco and Oakland beginning on January 6.

The Dallas-based carrier will expand its non-stop destinations out of Love Field in October when the Wright Amendment restrictions are lifted. With the addition of the two Bay Area airports in January, Southwest will have 33 nonstop destinations from Love Field next year.

"We continue to add new destinations, with ever-renewed excitement, to give our long-time customers in Dallas more flight options that show how we value their time," said Southwest chief executive Gary Kelly in a statement.
